Every
pregnancy is special and every pregnancy is different.
Most pregnancies are about 9 months or 40 weeks.
Pregnancy is divided into 3 parts, called trimesters
(try Mess ters).
1st
Trimester=Months 1-3/Weeks 1-13
2nd Trimester=Months 4-6/Weeks 14-26
3rd Trimester=Months 7-9/Weeks 27-40
Everything
you put into your body is such an important job. The
baby depends on you to make healthy choices for the two
of you. Not everything about being pregnant is fun. You
can feel lots of stress during pregnancy. Always talk
about your feelings. Talk to your partner, family or a
good friend. Talk to a Doctor or nurse how you feel. If
you have a question-ASK!
Pregnancy is a time of unusual endocrine activity during which time it is not unusual for an excess of androgens to be produced. Often a growth will appear on the upper lip, chin and sides of the face of a woman in pregnancy.
Seldom, however, do these become terminal hairs. Not
long after the woman has given birth the endocrine
balance is restored and the recalcitrant crop
disappears.
It is not uncommon for a woman to lose hair on her head during pregnancy and, at the time, to develop superfluous hair on the face and chest. After pregnancy, the hair on the head will usually
re-grow, but the superfluous hair rarely disappears.
During pregnancy chloasma sometimes appear 's on the face in what is known as the mask of pregnancy.
androgens-any of various hormones that control the development of masculine
characteristics; the hormone responsible for hair growth and usually the primary causes for excess hair growth when it is secreted above normal levels.
chloasma-characterized by increased deposits of pigment in the skin found mainly on the forehead, nose and cheeks. Also called moth patches or liver spots.
endocrine system- the ductless glands of the body whose secretions are released directly into the blood stream.
hormones-secretions produced in and by one of the endocrine glands such as the pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, etc., and carried by the blood stream or body fluid to another part of the body or body organ to stimulate functional activities. Hormones have a
direct or indirect effect on normal and abnormal hair growth.
